On a fine sunny summer afternoon we progressed in the FA Cup two goals to nil against Minehead of the Toolstation League Division 1.
Overall we gave a very professional performance in the first half and despite taking our foot off the gas in the second period we really never looked like being in trouble.
A early as the 9th minute we had a penalty appeal turned down. From the resulting throw in, the ball was not cleared and Lamin caused our visitors some problems causing them to hack the ball desparately off the line and Baggs was fractionally off target when the ball fell loose. A second appeal for hands just outside the area a couple of minutes later was given but we failed to capitalise from the opportunity.
On the quarter hour we forced a corner and again the ball didn't get cleared and Leo managed to connect with a Lamin overhead kick (yes you read that right!) to put us one up.
On 35 minutes we extended our lead when Mezz crossed in hard and low, the ball wasn't cleared and Billy slotted home from close range.
On 38 we again went close through Gary Langrish and a couple of minutes later "Man of the Match" Mark Dancer's cross forced yet another corner which was curled over by Baggs.
Into the second half we continued to press forward and had a goal (correctly) disallowed on 49 minutes; indeed we had several more opportunities to extend the lead and on the hour changed our attacking options bringing on Jack Swann for Baggs, and he had some fine runs and on 84 minutes his searching run and telling cross from the byline was just missed by Leo and wehn the ball dropped to the edge of the goal area, Rich was fractionally off target.
So having checked the results, we find ourselves making the trip to Fairford on 2 September for the next round on 2 September.
