Starting with the same line up that kicked off at Fareham midweek, our run of away games came to a very successful end this afternoon when we ran out as 5-0 winners at Brockenhurst.
It took a long time for us to settle down and apart from a couple of good chances early on our hosts came out in the second period and looked a beaten side then despite only being one down.
One player in particular stood out this afternoon and that was Scotty. He had a truly great game in the middle today, winning virtually everything and instrumental in our build up play.
Our opening goal came on 34 minutes when Scott was pulled back when making a great breaking run. Gaz placed the free kick delightfully and it floated over the keeper into the net. Just four minutes later Brock had a fine chance when White set up Osborne, only for his effort to just dip wide.
Into the second half, we began to take the game to the Badgers and apart from a short patch around the hour mark Brock saw very little of the game. Between the restart and then we had three chances to extend our lead Colman conceding a free kick on the outside edge of the penalty area that saw Tim’s effort rebound off the bar, Scott had a tremendous cross that nobody could quite get to and a Strongy effort whizzed past the post.
It seemed to just be a matter of time before we scored again, and it came when the referee spotted an infringement in the area and awarded us a penalty- that was calmly dispatched by Dancy.
Our hosts’ heads visibly dropped and it was not a real surprise when Leo took advantage of a massive clearance from Dan to beat the offside trap and beat the keeper low to his left.
With just nine minutes remaining Gaz collected his brace when he gambled on a long clearance and was able to slot home from around five yards.
Proceedings were wrapped up with just five minutes left when Scott managed to get off his shot. Walker-Harris did well to parry it, but it fell nicely for Jack to poke home from close range.
