Despite dominating long periods of the second period, Poppies failed to break down a stubborn Ringwood Town side that included former player Charlie Dibba.
The opening goal came on 16 minutes when a needless foul was given away. The free kick was floated to the far post and Dan Taylor nodded the ball goalwards, Jason couldn't quite hold on to it and it dropped into the corner.
Neither side played particularly well and our final ball again was letting us down.
We were back in the game just three minutes after the break when Paul Rideout- on his debut, fired in a superb cross from the right and Leigh Phillips powered home a superb header, typical centre forward stuff!
Just prior to the hour mark another ball in from the right evaded everyone- if anyone had managed to connect we would have got our noses in front.
Despite making three changes we couldn't quite manage to break our opponents down and although we created several opportunities we almost lost the game when with just minutes remaining a speculative lobbed effort from Ringwood beat Jason hitting the bar- with the rebound being hacked away.
Man of the match goes to Leigh for his efforts up front and Paul Rideout had a good debut managing to get a lot of the ball down the right flank particularly in the opening spell.
Confidence is obviously down at the moment so the forthcoming midweek visit to Christchurch and next weekend in the Hampshire Senior Cup is a good opportunity to get the last couple of games out of the system.
