Report

There was to be no shock tonight at the Park as our visitors strolled to a 5-0 half time lead, taking the lead as early as the tenth minute and then scoring at regular intervals to take the tie out of our hands.
Poppies kicked off towards the Boundary Lane End, into an extremely fierce wind. That was a hindrance as two of the goals were distinctly helped by that wind. Unfortunately we never really got going and the game plan never got off the ground, in fact we were very poor in the opening spell. There were too many defensive errors that were clinically punished by a club whose league position is obviously false having a ten point penalty for being in Administration.
The second half was more pleasing and we got a hard earned draw out of it. In all honesty ‘Boro didn’t create all that many opportunities in the second half and we could have got at least two goals. That would have given the score line a bit more of a realistic tinge to it. Leigh had two chances that he would 8 times out of 10 convert- but tonight it wasn’t to be.

  • No scheduled fixtures.
