All in all not a very scintillating display by the Poppies who moved into a two legged semi-final against local rivals Wimborne Town, however a win nonetheless and ten winning games on the trot, a massive January for the lads- definitely Club of the Month candidates surely?
This could have easily been one of those banana skins we often hear about- the heavy pitch was very bumpy in places and the bounce was unpredictable. A great cup leveller if ever there was one.
Our goals were all well taken, the first coming on 7 minutes when a first time cross in from Dance was volleyed home by Jack. Just three minutes later the game was seemingly wrapped up when following a Leo flick, Tim was able to draw the keeper out before lobbing him for the second of the evening.
Tim secured the game on 74 minutes in the highlight of an otherwise dreary half, when the North End keeper cleared the ball only for it to drop to Tim some 25 yards out whose volley flew back past the keeper into the top corner of the net, thereby earning his Man of the Match award.
Poppies enjoyed around 70% of the game but before half time our hosts had a couple of opportunities to get back in the game but were thwarted by Jason.
